The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged its supporters to remain calm following the omission of its Cross River governorship candidate from the final list released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The party attributed the omission to a bureaucratic error and expressed confidence that the issue would be resolved soon.
INEC released the final list on Saturday, featuring candidates from eight political parties for the Feb. 6, 2027 governorship election in Cross River. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) was also absent from the list.
The NDC Chairman in Cross River, Goddie Akpama, said the party had contacted relevant authorities, including its national secretariat, and was assured that the matter was being addressed.
“I can assure you that all this will be resolved this week; we will have our candidate back on the list,” he said.
Akpama urged supporters to continue campaigning for all NDC candidates, including the governorship candidate, and focus on promoting the party’s message across the state.
