The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a man declared wanted over alleged cyberbullying and disparaging remarks against religious clerics.
The suspect, who resides in the Alakuko area of Lagos, was tracked and arrested on Tuesday following petitions from some clerics.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Tijani, directed the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, to investigate the matter.
A police source said the arrest followed a petition by a Celestial Church pastor in the Ojokoro area, who accused the suspect of making disparaging remarks against him and his religious beliefs.
Another petition was reportedly submitted by an Islamic scholar in the Ogba area, who similarly accused the suspect of making offensive remarks against him and his religious beliefs.
The source said the suspect was also wanted by the police in Kwara State, where a warrant of arrest had been issued against him over alleged cyberbullying involving several other religious clerics.
He said the suspect had been profiled while the command awaited additional complaints from possible victims to assist the investigation.
The source said the suspect would be charged to court after the investigation was concluded.
He assured that the investigation would be conducted professionally, with all relevant parties given the opportunity to present their evidence.
