Following Portugal’s victory, Rafael Leão couldn’t hide his emotion after taking to the pitch in the famous No. 7 shirt left behind by Cristiano Ronaldo.
The winger put in a stellar performance out wide, helping Portugal secure all three points while carrying the immense weight of the most iconic jersey in the country’s history.
Paying Respect to His Hero:
“It’s been special for me to wear the No7 shirt because Cristiano is my idol since I was a child. I tried my best to respect this number, this shirt. I am happy with the win.”
Outside of stepping into Ronaldo’s shoes, Leão revealed a deeper personal link to the number 7:
“My kids were also born on the 7th so I am so happy.”
Leão showed zero signs of pressure on the pitch, using his signature burst of pace and direct dribbling to destabilize the opposition defense, proving he’s ready to lead Portugal’s attack moving forward.
