A man, Abdulrazaq Abdulra’uf, on Wednesday agreed to grant his wife, Khadija Isah, her request for divorce at a Shari’a Court sitting in Magajin Gari, Kaduna State.
Abdulra’uf’s counsel, Malam Yazid Abdulsalam, declined to collect the dowry that was to be returned to him.
The Judge, Malam Mu’awiyah Shehu, subsequently ruled that the marriage had been dissolved.
Earlier, Isah, who has two children, boys aged 15 and 10, had asked the court to dissolve the marriage through Khul’i.
Khul’i is a form of divorce in which a woman returns the dowry paid by her husband in exchange for her freedom from the marriage.
Isah said she was willing to return the N10,000 she received as dowry.
