Like a deep calling to the deep, veteran actor Pete Edochie has saluted his deceased colleague, Olu Jacobs, for the courage which which he faced the ailment he battled in the last years of his life.
According to Edochie, Jacobs fought gallantly like a soldier.
The legendary Thespian died on the 16th of September, 202
In a video shared online, the veteran actor described Olu Jacobs as his brother, saying he fought gallantly till the end.
Edochie also described the deceased as a humorous personality and a peaceful colleague who built a quiet life known only to himself, his wife, and his close circle.
He further noted that Jacobs was the only veteran among his senior colleagues to die after 80.
In a message to Joke Silva, he praised her for standing by her husband and urged her to celebrate his life and legacy.
He said, “Olu, my brother, he fought like a man. He fought like the soldier I have always known him to be. Rest in peace. Joke, I commiserate with you over what you’ve been dealing with for the past six years. He was a humorous personality and a peaceful colleague. He was very humorous; he created a life known only to him, Joke, and me. Joke, you did your best; though Olu has gone, be glad and celebrate Olu’s life.
“Of all my senior colleagues who have gone, Olu was the only one who got beyond 80. If God says it’s time, then it’s time. My only prayer is that one of Olu’s children takes to acting, so whenever we look at him, we will remember what Olu meant to all of us. Olu was our movie senior, and he treated everybody he interacted with that way. Joke, I want you to remember Olu’s words, and take heart. Olu, if it’s true that people recognise themselves after death, then there is a possibility we will meet again.”
