Mr Muftau Kolawole of Agbo-oba Area, Ilorin, has asked an Area Court in Ilorin to grant him separation from his live-in partner, Aishat Yahaya, over alleged violence, threats and frequent fights.
The father of two told the court that he was tired of the relationship and wanted a peaceful life after six years of what he described as constant threats and violence.
Kolawole alleged that Yahaya began threatening him with sharp objects after the birth of their second child, adding that he had been hospitalised on different occasions after she and her children from a previous relationship allegedly beat and injured him.
He also alleged that Yahaya once threatened to stab him, but he escaped.
Kolawole pleaded with the court to grant the separation, saying he could not marry Yahaya because of her alleged stubborn and violent behaviour.
As Yahaya was absent from the proceedings, the presiding judge, Ajibade Lawal, ordered that a hearing notice be served on her before the next hearing.
The case was adjourned until Sept. 30 for continuation of hearing.
