The family of late Nollywood veteran Olu Jacobs has announced the dates for his final farewell, with a Night of Tributes and funeral service scheduled to hold in Lagos.
The Night of Tributes will take place on Wednesday, September 30, at Glover Memorial Hall, Marina, Lagos Island, beginning at 4pm.
Guests have been asked to dress in shades of blue for the ceremony.
The funeral service is scheduled for Friday, October 2, at 10am at This Present House, Freedom Way, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
The family has announced shades of green as the dress code for the service.
Ahead of the ceremonies, Jacobs’ widow, veteran actress Joke Silva, has also invited President Bola Tinubu to join the family and members of the entertainment industry in honouring the late actor.
In a letter dated September 23, Silva thanked the President for his condolence message following Jacobs’ death and for acknowledging his contribution to Nigeria’s creative industry.
Jacobs died on September 16, 2026, at the age of 84, after a career spanning more than five decades in theatre, television and film.
His son, Olusoji Jacobs, announced his death in a statement that honoured him as “The Lion of Lufodo”, reflecting the actor’s longstanding contribution to the performing arts.
Beyond his work on screen and stage, Jacobs and Silva were also involved in developing young talent through the Lufodo Group and the Lufodo Academy of Performing Arts.
The two ceremonies will give family, friends, colleagues and admirers an opportunity to celebrate the actor’s life and remember a career that left a lasting mark on Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
