Reality TV star Whitemoney has denied allegations that he is homophobic following backlash over his response to a male Instagram user who sent him a suggestive message.
On Wednesday, Sept. 16, Whitemoney publicly called out the male Instagram user, who had complimented his looks and referred to him as “Papi” in a direct message.
Whitemoney rejected the comment, saying it was inappropriate for a man to call another man “Papi” or compliment his handsomeness. He advised men to address one another as “Bro” instead and stated that he is straight and has no trace of homosexuality in him.
Following the video, Whitemoney faced backlash, particularly from some members of the LGBT community who accused him of battling with “internalized homophobia.”
Responding to his critics in a video posted on social media on Thursday morning, Whitemoney said he was not homophobic and stressed that he respects people and their choices.
He maintained that he is a straight man who loves women.
Whitemoney also criticised those who claimed that he called out the male admirer because he was poor.
The critics had suggested that Whitemoney might have handled the situation more discreetly if the admirer were wealthy or influential.
