Three persons, including two electricians and a mechanic, were on Thursday brought before an Asokoro Magistrates’ Court in Abuja for allegedly stealing electrical wires valued at N500,000 from a building site.
The defendants, Aga Emmanuel, 27, Godwin Francis, 20, and Fabian Joseph, 39, pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
Emmanuel and Francis, both electricians, reside in Takalafiya Village, Abuja, while Joseph, a mechanic, resides in Apo Mechanic Village, Abuja.
The prosecutor, L.O. Mohammed, told the court that the defendants allegedly committed the offences on Sept. 2 at Lokogoma, Abuja.
Mohammed said the complainant, Daniel Adejo of Lokogoma, reported the matter at Apo Police Station.
He said the defendants were carrying out electrical work at Joje Lugard, Apo, when they allegedly conspired and stole electrical wires valued at N500,000 from the building site.
The prosecutor said the wires were later found in the defendants’ possession during police investigation.
According to him, the offences contravened Sections 97 and 287 of the Penal Code Law.
The Magistrate, Mr Abdumajid Oniyangi, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N2 million each with one surety each in like sum.
He adjourned the case until Sept. 21 for hearing.
