Veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, has painted the picture of a deep loss over the death of iconic elder colleague, Olu Jacobs.
According to him, the exit symbolises one of the losses that words cannot capture.
In an emotional Instagram tribute, Richard Mofe-Damijo reflected on the death of the celebrated actor and the influence he had on generations of Nigerian performers.
Richard Mofe-Damijo described Olu Jacobs as an icon, pioneer and giant of Nigerian theatre and film, praising his talent, discipline and command of his craft.
The actor also recalled the impact Olu Jacobs had on younger professionals in the industry, noting that his return home and commitment to his craft helped inspire many who came after him.
Beyond Olu Jacobs’ achievements on stage and screen, Richard Mofe-Damijo said he wanted to remember the man behind the celebrated career.
“I want to remember the man,” he wrote.
He described Olu Jacobs as a husband, father, friend, and elder, and sent his thoughts and prayers to Joke Silva, the children, and the entire family.
Mofe-Damijo also celebrated the stories, characters, and lessons the veteran actor left behind.
“Thank you for giving your gift to us,” he wrote.
“You may have taken your final bow, but the curtain will never truly fall on the legacy you leave behind.”
