American filmmaker, actor and producer Tyler Perry has revealed that he has no plans to get married, citing the financial consequences he has seen people face after divorce.

Perry made the disclosure while speaking on The Jennifer Hudson Show, where he explained that marriage itself does not concern him but that the possibility of divorce makes him hesitant about getting married.

“It’s not the marriage that bothers me. It’s the divorce. Everybody that I know that did well and went broke, it was because of a divorce, so I’m good just being free,” he said.

The filmmaker’s comments highlight his concerns about the financial impact that can accompany the breakdown of a marriage, particularly for people who have built significant wealth during their careers.

While he does not appear opposed to marriage itself, Perry said the possibility of losing his financial stability as a result of divorce has made him comfortable with remaining single.

For now, the filmmaker said he is content with his decision to remain free rather than take the financial risks he associates with marriage and possible divorce.
