The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has summoned former Bayelsa State Governor Timipre Sylva over an alleged $14.86 million fraud case.
The development comes a day after Sylva announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing dissatisfaction with the direction of the party and the current administration.
Sylva had also accused the EFCC of being used for political purposes, a claim the commission has rejected.
According to the EFCC, the former governor has been wanted since November 2025 over allegations involving $14.859 million linked to a refinery investment involving the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB).
The funds were reportedly invested in Atlantic International Refinery and Petrochemical Limited for the development of a refinery project.
EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale urged Sylva to appear before the commission, stating that he had already been declared wanted in connection with the investigation.
Sylva has not been reported arrested in the latest development.
The EFCC is seeking his appearance for questioning as investigations into the alleged financial misconduct continue.
