The Presidency says President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms are restoring confidence in Nigeria’s business environment and creating opportunities for entrepreneurs.
Dr Nafia Abdullahi, Technical Assistant on Regional Development Programmes in the Office of the Vice President, stated this on Sunday in Abuja at the inauguration of Makib Estilo, a business outlet launched by the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim.
Abdullahi said the business, established by Fatima Abdullahi-Bono seven years ago as Makib Apparels, had grown from a small shop into a diversified enterprise offering interior products, kitchenware, fabrics and other household items.
She attributed the growth to improving economic conditions under the Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly developments in the foreign exchange market.
According to her, the naira’s previous depreciation had increased import costs and made business expansion difficult, but the reforms had helped stabilise the market and improve conditions for import-dependent businesses.
She urged critics of the administration to assess the reforms objectively by interacting directly with businesses and Nigerians rather than relying on hearsay.
Earlier, Sulaiman-Ibrahim said businesses were experiencing growth under the Tinubu administration, adding that the Federal Government was supporting micro, small and medium enterprises through intervention funds, single-digit loans and free business formalisation initiatives.
Abdullahi-Bono also credited improved foreign exchange conditions with the growth of Makib Estilo, saying the company imports most of its products.
She said the business planned to attract investors, create more opportunities and expand across Nigeria and eventually globally.
