Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta has pledged his administration’s commitment to sustaining growth, development and prosperity for the people of the state.
The governor made the pledge on Thursday in a felicitation message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, in Asaba to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the state’s creation on Aug. 27, 1991.
Oborevwori described the anniversary as a significant milestone in Delta’s history, noting that the past 35 years had been defined by resilience, unity and the collective efforts of its people.
He commended past leaders, traditional and religious leaders, civil servants, private sector players and residents for their contributions to the growth and development of the state since its creation.
The governor said his administration remained committed to building on the achievements of previous governments through people-oriented policies, infrastructural renewal, economic expansion and inclusive governance.
According to him, the ongoing transformation across the state reflects his administration’s commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy and creating opportunities for all residents.
He urged residents to remain united and support the government’s development agenda, assuring them that Delta’s best years were ahead.
“Today, as we celebrate 35 years of our dear state, we are reminded of the sacrifices, dedication and vision of those who have contributed to making Delta what it is today.
“The shining era of Delta is here, and together we will build a future of greater possibilities,” he said.
Oborevwori wished residents at home and abroad a happy anniversary and called for renewed commitment to peace, unity and collective responsibility in advancing the state.
Delta was among the states created by the military government led by retired Gen. Ibrahim Babangida on Aug. 27, 1991.
