United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has inducted 374 young graduates as newly trained banking professionals following the successful completion of Cohort 21 of its Graduate Management Accelerator Programme (GMAP).
The latest cohort brings the number of professionals trained through the programme to more than 5,000, further expanding UBA’s talent pool across its African operations.
The GMAP is designed to equip graduates with practical banking expertise through a combination of structured training, mentorship and hands-on experience.
The initiative is aimed at developing professionals who can adapt to a financial-services industry increasingly influenced by technology and evolving customer expectations.
Of the 374 graduates in the latest cohort, 223 are women and 151 are men.
Nigeria accounted for 345 participants, while the remaining 29 came from UBA’s operations in Guinea, Tanzania, Kenya, Mozambique, Uganda, Zambia and Côte d’Ivoire.
The continental participation reflects UBA’s broader approach to talent development as the bank continues to strengthen its workforce across Africa.
Beyond professional training, the initiative highlights the growing importance of human capital in the banking industry.
As technology continues to reshape financial services and make banking products increasingly accessible, the quality of employees and the customer experience they provide remain important factors in determining how financial institutions compete.
Through the GMAP, UBA is positioning graduate talent development as part of its broader strategy to build a skilled workforce capable of responding to the changing demands of the African financial-services market.
