Two men, Shele Taiwo, 38, and Adeola Odunayo, 37, on Monday appeared before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun over alleged assault.
The defendants, whose addresses were not provided, were arraigned on two counts of conspiracy and assault but pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, DSP E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendants committed the offences at about 5:20 p.m. at Honda Bus Stop on Idiroko Road, Ota.
Adaraloye said an altercation broke out between the defendants and one Friday Danland, although the cause of the disagreement was unclear.
The prosecutor said the altercation later degenerated, with the defendants allegedly striking the complainant with their fists and a wooden stick.
He said the offences contravened Sections 351 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Fadairo, granted each defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety each in like sum.
Fadairo directed that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed, with evidence of tax payment to the Ogun Government.
The case was adjourned until Sept. 8 for hearing.
