Oyo releases names of 10 people selling human parts

The Oyo State Police Command has identified 10 suspects it arrested as merchants of human parts in the state.

It gave the names of the suspects as Adam Ibrahim, 42; Nasiru Kabiru, 22; Tijani Wasiu, 54; Abiola Nasiru, 45; Amusa Gbadamosi, 57; Raheem Taofeek, 46; Jimoh Muritala, 35; Suleiman Busari, 47; Ganiyu Nurudeen, 36; and Usman Abdullahi, 52.

The command says an intelligence-led operation by operatives of the Command Monitoring Unit involved several months of painstaking intelligence gathering, discreet surveillance and close monitoring of the suspects, culminated in the arrest of the ten suspects at their various hideouts within Iseyin and Saki areas of Oyo State.

According to the police, a search on the suspects’ hideouts led to the recovery of several human parts including a human heart, human flesh, pieces of human skull and assorted charms. The police mentioned that the recovered items have been secured for forensic examination and further investigation.

In the course of investigation, the suspects confessed to their various involvement in dealing in human parts for different ritual purposes and are currently assisting investigators in unraveling the circumstances surrounding the source, procurement and intended use of the recovered human parts. Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest other members of the syndicate.
