A Magistrates’ Court in Kaduna on Wednesday ordered the remand of Muhammad Ahmed in a correctional centre for allegedly sodomising an eight-year-old boy.
The court, presided over by Justice Jamila Ahmad, also ordered that the case file be transmitted to the Kaduna State Ministry of Justice for legal advice.
She adjourned the matter until Oct. 7 for the police to conclude their investigation and for further hearing.
Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Insp. Regina Isaac, said the case was initiated following a formal complaint lodged at the Rigasa Divisional Police Headquarters by the survivor’s father before it was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (State CID).
She alleged that Ahmed took the minor to a house where he committed an unnatural offence.
When the charge was read to Ahmed, he pleaded not guilty.
