The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH) chapter in Okitipupa, Ondo State, has embarked on an indefinite strike.
Dr Oluwatoyin Ogunbamike, the chapter’s ASUU Chairman, disclosed this on Wednesday in Okitipupa, saying the industrial action was due to the non-implementation of the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement by the state government.
According to him, the strike is total, comprehensive and indefinite until the state government implements the agreement.
“The agreement includes 40 per cent of Current Consolidated Salary Scale, Earned Academic Allowance (EAA), and Consolidated Academic Tool Allowance (CATA).
“Others are Professorial Allowance, Responsibility Allowance, Supervision Allowance as well as other non- monetary components of the agreement.
“In spite of the state being an oil producing one, the government of the day is not responsive to educational development.”
Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), another state-owned institution in Ondo, also began an indefinite strike on Tuesday over the same non-implementation of the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement by the state government.
