Julián Álvarez has made it clear that he wants to leave Atlético Madrid this summer to pursue a dream move to Barcelona, but Atlético are refusing to let their star striker go.
The 26-year-old Argentine striker spoke out publicly, stating that “a transfer is best for everyone” and that he wants to fulfill his dream. However, Atlético Madrid are refusing to negotiate and insist he stays.
Álvarez publicly admitted he wants to move on and told staff at the training ground to “count me out” as he pushes for a move to Barcelona.
Barcelona have been trying to negotiate for the striker all summer, but Atlético have turned down all approaches.
Manager Diego Simeone and CEO Miguel Ángel Gil Marín both confirmed Atlético have no intention of selling him, pointing to his massive €500m release clause.
Arsenal and Real Madrid also showed interest earlier in the summer, but Álvarez has made Barcelona his clear priority.
