Man arraigned over alleged possession of stolen motorcycle in Ekiti

A 34-year-old man, Adeniyi Adebayo, has been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over the alleged possession of a stolen motorcycle.

Adebayo, whose address was not provided, pleaded not guilty to a one-count charge of possessing a stolen motorcycle.

The prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant was found in possession of an unregistered red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle suspected to have been stolen in Ido-Ekiti sometime in February.

According to the prosecutor, the alleged offence contravenes Section 345 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

He urged the court to adjourn the matter to enable the prosecution study the case file and assemble witnesses.

Defence counsel, Mr Busuyi Ayorinde, prayed the court to admit the defendant to bail, assuring that he would not abscond.

Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun granted Adebayo bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until Aug. 31 for hearing.
