The Lagos State chapter of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) has endorsed Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde as the most suitable presidential candidate for the opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement on Monday, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Ayodele Kazeem, said Makinde possesses the leadership qualities, competence and national appeal needed to unite the opposition and offer Nigerians a credible alternative.

Kazeem said the party’s position was based on Makinde’s record in governance, describing him as a prudent and transparent leader who has delivered measurable results in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture and security while maintaining fiscal discipline.

He added that Makinde’s leadership style, ability to build consensus and relationships across political divides make him well-positioned to lead a broad national coalition.

According to him, the opposition needs a candidate with executive experience, national acceptance and the capacity to attract support across the country.

Kazeem also said the APM in Lagos was already mobilising support for the opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 elections.

He disclosed that the party’s governorship candidate, Prince Laja Adeoye, had activated a grassroots mobilisation strategy aimed at strengthening polling unit structures, expanding volunteer networks, encouraging voter registration and Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection, and engaging community groups across Lagos State.

He said the party remained committed to issue-based politics and restoring hope to Nigerians through the opposition coalition.
