All 55 European football associations have unanimously voted to boycott all future FIFA competitions, including the World Cup.
The drastic decision comes after FIFA President Gianni Infantino revealed plans to sell a 20% stake in World Cup commercial rights to private equity investors for over $4 billion.
In response, UEFA called an emergency meeting and made it clear that football’s biggest tournament is not an investment product and is not for sale.
With major footballing nations like England, France, Germany, and Spain standing united alongside pushback from North America’s CONCACAF, FIFA faces unprecedented pressure to cancel the deal entirely.
