The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has called for stronger collaboration with employers to improve corps members’ workplace experience and support national development.

The Lagos State Coordinator, Mrs Christiana Salmwang, made the call on Thursday during the 2026 NYSC Lagos State Corps Employers’ Workshop in Lagos.

Speaking on the theme, “Fine-tuning Stakeholders’ Collaboration to Enhance Corps Members’ and Workplace Experience,” Salmwang said the workshop was aimed at reviewing existing partnerships, addressing emerging challenges and developing practical solutions to improve corps members’ welfare and workplace productivity.

She said the NYSC scheme was established to promote national unity, integration and development, adding that achieving those goals depended largely on the commitment and support of employers.

Salmwang commended organisations hosting corps members for providing opportunities to apply academic knowledge, acquire practical skills and contribute to institutional growth.

She noted that employers play a vital role in shaping corps members’ professional development through quality supervision, mentorship and workplace guidance.

She urged employers to maintain effective communication with the NYSC, promptly address workplace challenges and provide enabling environments for corps members to excel.

Salmwang also advised corps members to remain disciplined, diligent and committed to excellence, expressing optimism that the workshop would strengthen collaboration and enhance the NYSC scheme in Lagos State.
