An Ota Magistrate’s Court in Ogun State on Wednesday sentenced a 21-year-old man, Ahmed Akinbode, to one year imprisonment for burglary and theft.
Akinbode, whose address was not disclosed, had pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of burglary and stealing.
Delivering judgment, Magistrate O.O. Fadairo sentenced the convict to one year imprisonment with an option of a N50,000 fine.
Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the offences were committed on July 15 at about 9:45 p.m. at Saviour Pastoral Church in Ota.
Adaraloye said Akinbode broke into the church and stole a musical instrument and two plates of Simba, valued at N80,000.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 390 and 415 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun State, 2006.
