Security guard arraigned over alleged N350,000 theft

A 29-years-old security guard, Ahmad Luku, was arraigned on Tuesday before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Wuse, Abuja over alleged theft of N350,000.

Ahmad a resident of No 5 Haruna Street, Utako, Abuja, is standing trial on a one count charge bordering on theft.

He however pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.

The Prosecuting Counsel, Catherine Okafor, told the court that the complainant, Ms Mineen Wachi, of No 5 IBM Haruna Street Utako, Abuja, reported the matter at the Utako Police Station on July 2.

Catherine said that the complainant said she employed the defendant to safeguard her house, but he criminally stole her two Kilo Grammes gas cylinder and two TV wall brakes all valued at N350,000.

The prosecuting counsel said that during police investigation, the defendant was seen through CCTV camera carrying out the act.

She also said that the defendant confessed to the crime, adding that the offence contravened section 289 of the penal code.

The Magistrate, Hafsat Amir, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum.

She also said the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.

She further ordered that the surety must provide means of identification and Adjourned the case until Aug. 12 for trial.
