An Ota Magistrate’s Court in Ogun State has sentenced a 28-year-old unemployed man, Mohammed Ibrahim, to four months imprisonment for stealing 1,320 cement blocks valued at N950,000.
Ibrahim pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy and theft.
Delivering judgment on Monday, Magistrate O.O. Fadairo held that the evidence before the court established his guilt.
The court, however, gave him the option of a N20,000 fine.
Earlier, the prosecution counsel, ASP E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that Ibrahim and other accomplices still at large committed the offence between June 19 and June 23 at about 9 p.m. at No. 9 Adefarm, Iloye, Ota.
According to the prosecutor, the convict and his accomplices stole 1,320 cement blocks belonging to the complainant, Mr Babatunde Samson.
Adaraloye said the offence contravened Sections 390 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun State, 2006.
