Two men, Jesutuase Ayoola, 22, and Isiaka Abdulmaleek, 21, have been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court over the alleged possession of a motorcycle suspected to be stolen and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
The defendants, whose addresses were not disclosed, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Insp. Aina Ayodeji, told the court that the offences were allegedly committed on June 26 at about 12:30 p.m. in the Isato area of Ado-Ekiti.
According to him, Ayoola was found in possession of a dismantled motorcycle reasonably suspected to be stolen.
He further alleged that the two defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace.
Ayodeji said the offences contravene Sections 345 and 181(d) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecutor requested an adjournment to enable him to study the case file and present witnesses.
Counsel to the defendants, Hassan Salawu, urged the court to grant them bail, assuring the court that they would not abscond.
Magistrate Olatomiwa Daramola granted each defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until July 22 for hearing.
