Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has urged Muslims to pray for the government in its efforts to rescue the abducted Oriire teachers and pupils.

This is contained in a statement issued in Ibadan on Tuesday to felicitate Muslim faithful in the state and across the country on the occasion of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir.

Makinde, in the statement issued by the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Dr Suleimon Olanrewaju, however, charged residents to be vigilant during and after the festival.

He noted that it had become quite important for everyone to be more security-conscious than ever before as the country battles banditry and kidnapping.

He called on Muslims to use the celebration as an opportunity to pray more for the state, Nigeria and the leaders.

The governor prayed that God would preserve the lives of Muslims so that they could witness more years in good health and abiding wealth.

He reassured that his administration would continue to serve the people’s interest and remain on the trajectory of securing the state and its people while moving them into greater economic prosperity.
