Gov. Monday Okpebholo of Edo has congratulated the Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Benin, Most Rev. Dr Augustine Akubeze, on his 20th Episcopal Anniversary on Wednesday.
In a statement in Benin by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr Patrick Ebojele, the governor described the milestone as a testament to Akubeze’s enduring commitment to faith, service, and moral leadership.
According to Okpebholo, the Archbishop’s episcopal motto of “Ut Testimonium Perhibeam Veritati”, meaning “to bear witness to the truth”, reflects a ministry defined by integrity, discipline, and service to humanity.
He noted that since Akubeze episcopal consecration in 2006, he has demonstrated consistency in pastoral responsibility, institutional growth, and community engagement.
He further acknowledged Akubeze’s leadership as pioneer Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Uromi, and his subsequent appointment as Metropolitan Archbishop of Benin City in 2011, adding that he has continued to provide spiritual guidance and stability through these roles.
He described Akubeze as a steady moral voice whose contributions have strengthened social cohesion and inspired many across the state and beyond.
Okpebholo consequently, joined catholic faithful, entire christian community, and well-wishers, in celebrating the Archbishop.
He prayed for continued strength, wisdom, and good health in his service to the church and society.
