hree men, James Adams, Thomas Alaba and Emmanuel Oyebamiji, were on Thursday arraigned before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for allegedly assaulting a police officer.
Adams, 28, Alaba, 38, and Oyebamji, 32, whose addresses were not provided, are being charged with conspiracy and assault, to which they pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Insp Samuel Owolabi, told the court that the defendants committed the offences at about 10.09a.m on March 10, at Agbeleye, Ilero, Ibadan.
Owolabi said that the defendants assaulted a police officer, CPL Micheal Ojewale while performing his lawful duties.
The prosecutor said that the defendants gave Ojewale a fist blow on his mouth, and inflicted serious injury on him.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 356(2) and 516 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Gladys Olanrewaju, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each, with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until May 11, for hearing.
