The President of the Nigerian Air Force Officers Wives Association (NAFOWA) Mrs Ngozi Aneke, has commended the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, for returning the association’s schools.
Mrs Aneke gave the commendation on Wednesday during a courtesy visit to the NAF Logistics Command, Ikeja, and a maiden tour of NAFOWA facilities in Lagos State.
She said education remained a core priority, in line with NAFOWA’s commitment to building stronger families and securing better futures for their children.
“In this regard, I sincerely appreciate my dearest husband, the CAS, for his magnanimous gesture of returning our schools,” she said.
Aneke said targeted reforms had begun across NAFOWA schools, starting with professional audits and comprehensive assessments of all staff.
“These efforts focus on balancing the curriculum and upgrading infrastructure to create safe, conducive and high-quality learning environments,” she added.
She described the confidence reposed in NAFOWA as both an honour and responsibility, noting the schools were previously surrendered to the Nigerian Air Force.
Aneke said an education committee had been inaugurated to inspect infrastructure nationwide and recommend staffing adjustments, including disengagements or fresh recruitment.
“It is not just about returning the schools to us. It is a huge responsibility that requires all hands to be on deck,” she said.
The NAFOWA president said her office operated an open-door policy and welcomed ideas and suggestions to advance the association’s schools.
“If you have knowledge or competence in education, we are open to your contributions to ensure sanity in our schools,” she said.
She said NAFOWA would continue collaborating with relevant institutions to strengthen vocational centres and equip beneficiaries with sustainable livelihood skills.
“Through this, we will keep empowering women and youth to contribute productively to their families and society,” Aneke said.
She urged wives of Air Force officers and men to remain pillars of support on the home front, stressing their role in stable and prosperous homes.
“By upholding our values and supporting one another, we contribute significantly to our spouses’ service to the nation,” she said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the tour included visits to NAFOWA Little Angel Schools, Ikeja and Shasha, and NAFOWA vocational, ICT and secretariat facilities.
