Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has spoken philosophically on the renewed tension between him and his estranged mentor, Nyeson Wike.

He said he was not ‘barking’ because he was sure of how he would tame adversity and achieve his aim.

He urged his supporters to remain calm amid the ongoing face-off between him and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Many have been piqued that Fubara’s movement to the All Progressives Congress has witnessed renewed tension instead of solidifying peace between the two politicians.

Speaking at the New Year banquet held at the Government House in Port Harcourt, the governor said there was no cause for alarm, stressing that his camp understands the situation and is focused on its goals.

According to him, those who are “barking” are doing so because they do not understand what is happening.

Fubara assured his supporters that all necessary structures are in place to ensure the smooth running of his administration and his re-election bid.

“Don’t be disturbed by what is happening. Caesar, in one of his quotes, said the only reason a dog barks is when it doesn’t understand,” he said.

“If you have a dog in your house and it knows you, does it need to bark? So when the dog starts barking, maybe it is seeing something it doesn’t understand.

“We are not barking because we understand. We know where we are going, and we have put everything needed in place to make the journey smooth.”
