The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has said that Governor Abba Yusuf will be received into the party under the leadership of its former National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.
How the organogram will play out will interest observers as apart from the fact that governors are seen as party leaders in each state, Yusuf’s mentor, Rabiu Kwakwanso, whom Ganduje served as the deputy governor, had also been speculated to be planning to move to the APC.
The party has, however, reiterated its readiness to welcome Yusuf into its fold, ahead of his planned defection from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
The APC State Chairman, Prince Abdullahi Abbas, disclosed this in a statement issued to the News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) in Kano on Tuesday.
Abbas described the move as guided by unity, reconciliation, and the collective interest of Kano State.
Speaking on behalf of the party’s national leader, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, Abbas stressed that the call for Yusuf to join the APC was aimed at building a more united and prosperous Kano State .
“The APC is ready to receive Gov. Yusuf with open arms so that together, we can combine our strengths for the progress of the state,” Abbas said.
According to him, upon his formal entry, Yusuf and other NNPP stalwarts would be received into the APC under Ganduje’s leadership, in an atmosphere of mutual respect and collective responsibility.
