MTN Nigeria on Friday in Onitsha, Anambra, gifted a newlywed couple the sum of two million naira during their wedding, as part of its Y’elloTide Season of Surprises campaign.

“Today, there is a wedding taking place here in Onitsha and we are here to connect with the couple,” says MTN Nigeria Corporate office.

Presenting the gift, its Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer, Mr Tobe Okigbo, said that the initiative was aimed at spreading joy, kindness and connection during the yuletide season.

Okigbo described Y’elloTide as MTN’s flagship festive season experience, designed to transform everyday moments into extraordinary celebrations for Nigerians.

“During festive periods like this, MTN carries out a number of activities to connect with our customers and celebrate with them.

“We go to bus stations to pay transport fares for passengers, visit schools and markets to share gifts, all in the spirit of the season and to promote goodwill among Nigerians.

According to Okigbo, MTN believes that one of the most important connections in life, is the union of two hearts, which marriage represents.

“To celebrate this couple, we are offering them a token of N2 million and praying that the connection they are forming today will be resilient and guide them through life,” he said.

He said that MTN was committed to creating lasting emotional memories and celebrating moments that matter most to its customers.

Okigbo also urged Nigerians to show love and kindness during the season, noting that Christmas symbolises love, connection and reflection as the year draws to a close.

He reaffirmed MTN’s commitment to providing quality connectivity and digital services to Nigerians, adding that everyone deserved the benefits of a modern connected life.

The newly wed couple, Mr and Mrs Chikadibia Emeremni, expressed gratitude to MTN Nigeria for the surprise gesture.

“This is unbelievable, We thank MTN for making our wedding truly memorable; We will continue to share this love and connection within our community,” they said.
