As the US stops issuing green cards to Nigerians, Senator Shehu Sani has mocked the compatriots who hailed President, Donald Trump, when he branded the Giant of Africa ‘a disgraced country’.

He compared the attitude to the South Africans who kicked when Trump mocked their country.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, Sani stressed the irony that Trump did not include SA among those just banned but made Nigeria one of them.

He wrote: “Trump insulted your country and you celebrated him,he has now banned you from coming to his country.

“Trump insulted the South Africans,they rejected the insult and he has now excluded them from those he banned.

Trump didn’t say a “disgraced Government or a disgraced President”,he said “a disgraced Country” which implied that you are “a disgraced citizen from a disgraced Country” and you were then happy.

Who on Earth would allow disgraced people from a disgraced country visit or relocate to “a honorable and dignified America”?

“A man who insulted your family cannot single you out for honour.”

A US government official had revealed that the Trump administration has directed the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to suspend green card and citizenship applications filed by Nigerians and nationals of other countries newly added to the expanded US “travel ban,” citing national security concerns and an ongoing review of immigration vetting processes, CBS News reported on Thursday.

This follows a proclamation signed by President Donald Trump on Tuesday, further restricting entry into the United States for nationals from countries deemed high-risk due to what it described as “demonstrated, persistent, and severe deficiencies in screening, vetting, and information-sharing” that threaten US national security and public safety.

Among the 15 additional countries newly subjected to partial restrictions is Nigeria.

Trump had earlier, on October 31, declared Nigeria a “country of particular concern” following allegations of a Christian genocide in the country.
