The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has expressed the party’s solidarity with the government and people of Niger State over the abduction of pupils of St. Mary’s School, Papiri, in Agwara Local Government Area.
Yilwatda stated this on Wednesday when he led the members of the APC National Working Committee (NWC) on a sympathy visit to Gov. Mohammed Umaru-Bago at the Government House, Minna.
He decried the rising cases of kidnapping across the country, particularly the disturbing frequency of such incidents.
“Our hearts are heavy, and we stand in solidarity with the government and people of the state in this moment of grief,” he said.
The APC national chairman commended the efforts of security agencies, stating that the measures directed by President Bola Tinubu were yielding positive results.
He prayed for the safe and speedy recovery of the abducted pupils.
Yilwatda also applauded the Governor for his developmental strides and for promoting religious tolerance in the state, stressing that religious harmony was what the nation needs at this critical time.
Responding, Umaru-Bago appreciated the APC national chairman and the members of the NWC for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of the unity and brotherhood within the party.
He called for continued prayers for the safe return of the missing children and for sustainable peace in the state and the country.
The governor reiterated that Niger remained committed to peaceful coexistence irrespective of religious differences, adding that the state draws strength from its diversity
