The police in Lagos on Tuesday arraigned a 44-year-old man, Eyo Etim- Ikpeme in Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing N1.4million belonging to his employer.
The defendant, a banker who resides at 15, Oyedeji St., Ajegunle Apapa, Lagos, is tried for stealing.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Insp Innocent Odugbo, told the court that the offence was committed between Aug. and Nov. at Entourage Micro Finance Bank, Opebi, Ikeja.
The prosecutor said that the person in charge of disbursing loan to small scale traders discovered that some money was missing.
Odugbo alleged that all fingers pointed at the defendant as he was part of the process.
He also alleged that the defendant converted N1.4million from the bank to his personal use.
The offence, according to the prosecutor, contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs S. O Obasa granted the defendant N100, 000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case until Dec. 2. for mention.
