As residents of Anambra go to the polls for the governorship election, various polling units in Awka and environs are recording impressive turnout with security in place at strategic points.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports on Saturday at Okpuno Community Secondary School and Okpuno hall that voters have started arriving eager to cast their votes.
Mr Okoye Nnadozie, a voter, expressed delight over the peace being witnessed so far.
“Here in Awka North, we are peace loving people and ready to cast our votes for our preferred candidate,” he said.
At Amaowelle hall polling unit and Amansea in Awka North, the people were all in high hopes to cast their votes.
Mr Sam Okechukwu, a resident, called on INEC to satisfy the conscience of the people.
” All we want from INEC is to do what is right by declaring the right figures so that credibility will be restored to our democracy,” he said.
At Nibo, residents could be seen going to their various voting wards with officials of INEC arriving for the task.
Mr Obiajulu Ugah, on his part, called on INEC to up their game this time.
“Their electronic devices should not be faulty this time around, for that will mark a departure from the conduct of credible elections,” he said.
