A 50-year-old man, Moses Eke, on Monday, pleaded not guilty to a charge of stealing a vehicle’s brain box, brought against him by the police, before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan.
Eke, whose address was not provided, is standing trial before the Magistrate, Mrs Kausarat Ayofe, on charges bordering on stealing a car’s brain box.
The prosecutor, Insp. Olalekan Adegbite, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Oct. 4, at about 6.00 p.m. around University College Hospital, in Ibadan.
He alleged that the defendant stole a brain box of a Toyota Corolla vehicle, worth N300,000 .
The prosecution alleged that the car belongs to a nominal complainant Mr Akeem Ishola.
The offence contravenes the provisions of section 390(9) of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
The court granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000, with two sureties in like sum.
Ayofe held that the sureties must be close relatives of the defendant.
She adjourned the case until Dec.22, for hearing.
