The wife of the President, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, in partnership with Tony Enumelu Foundation, has disbursed N50,000 business grant to 500 small business women in Katsina State.
The disbursement of the small business recapitisation grants, held in Katsina on Monday, was designed to promote economic development at the grassroots level.
Disbursing the cash, the wife of the state Governor, Hajiya Zulaihat Radda, said the occasion carried deep meaning for the people.
“This programme has been rolled out across states of the federation to ensure that hard-working women and families are given the support they need to build a better tomorrow.
“From the beginning of this administration, we have remained committed to the belief that the true strength of our society is not measured by the wealth of a few, but by the wellbeing and opportunities available to all.
“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy. They sustain households, educate children, provide services, and create jobs.
“Yet, too often, they struggle to access the capital required to grow, compete, and withstand economic shocks. Sadly that enterprises owned by women are the most affected,” she said.
According to her, it was in recognition of this reality that the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), a pet project of the first lady, was established.
She said that through this initiative, women across the country have received mentorship training, and access to resources that were helping them transition from small roadside trading into successful and sustainable businesses.
“Today, with this re-capitalization grant, we’re building on that progress by giving many more women the opportunity to strengthen their enterprises and expand their dreams.
“My message to all women who will benefit from this grant is simple but important, this is not just financial support, it is trust.
“I trust you to use these funds wisely-to grow your businesses, employ others, and become role models for those who will come after you,” she advised the beneficiaries.
According to her, the beneficiaries’ success will be the evidence that empowerment works, and their stories will encourage others to believe in their own potential.
She added, “I believe with all my heart that prosperity is not the privilege of a few, it is the right of every woman, every young person, and every family.
“And together, through the Small business Re-Capitalisation Grant, we are showing that when leadership listens, when partnerships work, and when women are empowered, hope is not only renewed, it is realised.”
One of the beneficiaries, Malama Amina Abbas from Batsari Local Government Area, commended the first lady and the governor’s wife for the gesture.
She said that for a very long time, she has been looking for such an opportunity, adding that the money would boost her business.
