The Forum of State Chairmen of Accord Party in the Southwest Region (FSCASR) has announced the appointment of new zonal executives for effective party coordination ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The forum also urged southwest governors to prioritize citizen welfare, particularly by bolstering regional security amid rising banditry and insecurity.
These were among the resolutions from its quarterly meeting, which were issued in a statement signed by its Director of Media and Publicity, Hon. Rotimi Oke, on Friday in Ibadan.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the meeting, held at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) press centre in Ibadan, had in attendance the chairmen of the Accord party in the six southwest states.
Oke stated that the meeting’s aim was to review the party’s progress in the southwest and to set in motion the necessary strategies to position it as a formidable force in the forthcoming elections.
Other issues include strategies to make the party a household name in the region, attract new members, fielding men and women of integrity as candidates in 2027, and strengthen the party’s grassroots appeal.
“The chairman of the Accord party in Oyo state has emerged as new southwest chairman, while his counterpart from Lagos state has become new secretary for the region.
“Others include Ondo state chairman as director of finance;the Ekiti State chairman as director of welfare and Ogun state chairman as director of media and publicity.
“Director of youth and women development has been reserved for Osun State chairman,” Oke said.
The forum also passed a vote of confidence on the National Secretary of the party, Mrs. Adebukola Ajaja, for her exceptional leadership and unifying role in strengthening the party’s structure across the region.
Speaking on behalf of the forum Chairman, the Oyo state secretary, Hon. Olayinka Dairo, emphasised that the 2027 elections would mark a turning point for Nigerians.
He noted that the election would not be business as usual for the ruling party, with Accord party committed to empowering emerging leaders and promoting equality.
He declared that Accord party is poised to take over Nigeria, starting from the southwest, driven by its people-centric, principled, inclusive, and youth-friendly ideology.
“With the leadership qualities of the national secretary and the national chairman, Accord party is well positioned to emerge as a credible and people-focused party capable of reimagining governance in Nigeria,” he said.
