Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa has urged eligible residents of the state to take advantage of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) to get registered ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Sule made the appeal on Wednesday in Lafia at the flag-off of a sensitization and voters’ education program organized by the All Progressives Congress (APC). The event marked two years in office for the state APC chairman, Dr Aliyu Bello, and the secretary, Dr Yarus Dagusa.

According to the governor, Nasarawa is among the states with a low number of registered voters, as published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chart. He said the only way to correct this is to use the opportunity to get registered.

Sule, represented by his deputy, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, urged residents to participate in the CVR, irrespective of their political parties, sayin as the voter card would be their weapon in 2027.

“As APC in Nasarawa State, the only way we can win all the elections in 2027;  from the State House of Assembly to the National Assembly, governorship presidential, is to get registered,” he said.

Sule extolled Bello’s leadership quality and his contributions to the state’s politics.

He urged APC members to remain loyal to the party and its leadership, noting that loyalty pays.

“Bello is a political juggernaut, fearless and always telling truth to power. He is a rare gem,” Sule added.

Also, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Dr Danladi Jatau , congratulated Bello and party officials on their second anniversary in office.

He said that they had shown great leadership by uniting the party.

Jatau, while reaffirming the state assembly’s continuous support for the state government and the party, urged eligible citizens to take advantage of the CVR campaign and get registered.

In Response, Bello thanked God for granting the party leadership successful outings in the last two years in office.

He said that the CVR sensitisation would be taken to the 13 local government areas of the state to boost registration.

“We must imbibe the spirit of unity so that we can have a successful outing in 2027.

“The victory we desire in 2027 cannot be achieved without voter registration because your vote is your weapon, so go and register today,” he said.

The State Secretary of the party, Dagusa, highlighted the party’s achievements, saying that Bello’s leadership had repositioned the party through reconciliatory efforts and wooed several heavyweight politicians into the APC.

Also Mr Safiyanu Andaha, Chairman of the Association of All Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in the state, pledged to mobilise people at the grassroots to participate in the CVR.

Mrs Esther Alu, Zonal Women Leader, North Central, applauded the leadership of the party in Nasarawa  under Bello.

Alu made a case for women to serve as deputy governor, speaker, and deputy chairman in order to give them a sense of belonging.
