Three people, Durodola Yinka, 30; Bakare Kazeem, 48; and Agbiyanju Henry, 18, appeared on Wednesday before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged housebreaking and stealing.
The defendants are facing a three-count charge of housebreaking, stealing, and receiving stolen items.
The prosecutor, Insp Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that Yinka and Kazeem had on July 17 in Ado-Ekiti, broke into the residence of the complainant, Durojaye Nike.
Akinwale said that the defendants stole one Tecno Pop 9 phone valued at N130,000, and one Infinix smart 6 phone worth N150,000.
Other items include one power bank valued at N20,000, a bag contained jewellery and makeup valued at N167,000, and cash sum of N366,000, belonging to the complainant.
He said that the defendant, Agbiyanju Henry, on July 23 in Ado-Ekiti, dishonestly received Tecno Pop 9 phone valued at N130,000 from Yinka and Kazeem, which was stolen from the complainant.
According to him, the offences contravene Sections 302(1)a , 343 and 39 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adeosun, granted each of the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety each in like sum.
He adjourned the case until Oct.2 for hearing.
