The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) president, Mr Alhassan Yahaya, has praised the Kano State Government for its commitment to road infrastructure projects aimed at boosting mobility and economic development. The commendation was delivered on tuesday during a media tour, which allowed NUJ members from across the federation to witness the scale of the ongoing work firsthand.
The delegation, a key part of activities for the NUJ National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Kano, visited major project sites including Hadejia Road, the Tal’udu Flyover, and the Dan’agundi Flyover. These projects are part of a broader urban renewal initiative, with the state government assuring residents they will be completed by the end of 2025.
Yahaya expressed his satisfaction with the projects, stating, “We came, we saw, and we believe in what we saw.” The NUJ president’s remarks underscore the government’s success in leveraging infrastructural development to improve the state’s economic landscape and enhance the quality of life for its citizens.
“No doubt this administration is doing a lot in the area of road infrastructure.
“Our expectation is that at the end of these constructions, we will return to see how these beautiful roads are utilised by citizens and visitors alike,” Yahaya said.
He explained that the decision to focus on road construction projects was deliberate, noting that the government was also executing notable projects in health, agriculture, and the environment, which time did not permit the delegation to inspect.
Yahaya appreciated the Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Mr Ibrahim Abdullahi-Waiya, for leading the tour and facilitating the visits.
He described the exercise as an opportunity for journalists to witness and report first-hand information on the state’s infrastructural transformation.
He also highlighted the importance of the media in disseminating accurate information about government projects, urging journalists to maintain professional standards in their reportage.
