Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday in London.
In a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, on Monday in Yola, Fintiri extended sympathy to the Nigerian government, citizens, and the bereaved family.
He described Buhari’s passing as a major loss to the nation and praised the former president for his steadfast commitment to Nigeria’s growth and development.
He highlighted that Buhari’s leadership, both during his military and civilian eras, left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s history.
“His commitment to national unity, particularly during the country’s most challenging periods, including the civil war, is a testament to his statesmanship and vision for a united Nigeria,’’ he said.
Fintiri added that Buhari’s contributions to Nigeria’s development, especially in areas such as infrastructure, agriculture and security were indelible.
According to him, the late former president’s efforts to promote stability and democracy in the country would not be forgotten.
He particularly extended his heartfelt condolences to Aisha Buhari, who is a proud daughter of Adamawa.
