Two people have died and nine others sustained injuries in a road accident involving three vehicles at Tipper Garage on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

The South-West Area Commander of the Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Mr Adekunle Ajibade, confirmed the incident on Tuesday.

Ajibade said the crash, which involved 14 people, occurred around 7:40 p.m. on Monday and involved a Daf truck, a Mazda bus, and a tricycle

Ajibade said that the truck was parked on a slope at the entrance of a warehouse opposite Tipper garage, leaving the engine running while the handbrake was applied by the driver.

He disclosed that the driver exited the truck to deliver waybill to security guards at the gate of the warehouse.

Ajibade said the truck eventually reversed onto the expressway after disengaging the handbrake, causing the accident leading to the death of two people and nine others sustained injuries while three were unhurt.

“The corpses of victims have been deposited at the Ifo General Hospital, Ogun, while the survivors are also receiving treatment in the same hospital,” he said.

Ajibade said rescue operation was carried out by TRACE and Federal Road Safety Corps personnel while the vehicles were removed from the road to ease the flow of traffic.

He advised motorists to reduce speed, and adhere to traffic rules and regulations.
