Popular actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, has stated that she has started getting residuals from Hollywood.
In the entertainment industry, residuals are additional payments made to actors, writers, directors, and other crew members when a film or television show is used beyond its initial release.
The payments are calculated based on how the project is shown, whether it’s through reruns, streaming, DVD sales, or other means.
Omotola made the declaration with mixed feelings as she is unhappy that Nollywood has not been offering her residuals.
According to the actress recently challenged by veteran producer, Lancelot Imasuen, for allegedly stepping aside from the industry they all built, she has just been involved in four projects in Hollywood and the additional perks are coming in while Nollywood, where she has been involved in 310 projects has no residuals yet.
In a new post, she argues that Nollywood needs structure.
She writes: “Just 4 years in Hollywood. 2 test projects Monthly residuals.
30 years in Nollywood. 310 + projects. No residuals. Nollywood needs structure.”
