A 20-year-old man, Ajide Timileyin, has been arraigned before an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defrauding one Folahan Roseline of N270,000.
According to Prosecutor Inspector Sunday Osanyintuyi, the defendant committed the offence in April at Obande area, Mayfair, Ile-Ife, around 2:00 p.m.
Osanyintuyi told the court that Timileyin fraudulently withdrew the cash from the complainant’s Opay and Palmpay accounts.
He said the offence contravened Sections 383 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun State, 2002.
The magistrate ordered that the accused be remanded pending further hearing.
The defendant, who was not legally represented, however, pleaded not guilty to one-count charge of fraud.
Magistrate Abosede Sarumi granted the bail of the defendant in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties in like amount.
Sarumi said that the sureties must swear to an affidavit of means, reside within the court jurisdiction and their addresses be verified by the prosecutor.
She added that the sureties must provide three years tax clearance certificate and three recent passport photographs each.
She thereafter adjourned the case until June 2, for further hearing.
