Enugu State House of Assembly has confirmed the nomination of four commissioners to serve in the Enugu Electricity Regulatory Commission (ESERC).

The commissioners are; Mr Chijioke Okonkwo as the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr Chinedum Ukabiala, Mr Chuka Akunne and Mr Reuben Okoye as commissioners in the Commission.

The confirmation of the four nominees on Wednesday during plenary in Enugu followed their screening by the lawmakers.

Speaking during the screening, the chairman, Mr Okonkwo, who spoke on behalf of others, promised to work hard to justify their appointments by Gov. Peter Mbah.

Okonkwo said the commission would do everything possible to ensure that residents of the state enjoyed constant electricity.

He pledged that they would work with capable power producers to break the monopoly being enjoyed by the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC).

According to him, the dream to industrialise the state would remain a mirage without constant power.

“We  will ensure that the plan of the governor to provide 24-hours uninterrupted power is achieved,” he said.

In his remark, the Speaker of the House, Chief Uche Ugwu, while congratulating the nominees, urged them not to disappoint the state government.
